The first job. A good start!
We have been intrigued by ship’s engines all our lives. The history of our ship-building family goes all the way back to the 19th century. Ultimately, we – Niels and Björn – decided to start up our own business, something that many of our long-term clients had wished for.
The first job with Northern Marine was an overhaul of a Wärtsilä 8L20 aboard the motor ship Panda.
We were pleased with this and proud of the trust we had been shown. We began work on the project in good spirits and, above all, with great gusto.
After disassembly and measuring all the lining fits, it ultimately transpired that the fire rings at the bottom of the block were oval. These were bored by our specialists and we fitted new rings. We began the assembly on 22 October and were ready for a trial run on 26 October, then proceeding to a sea trial on the 27th as promised.
After the sea trial, it turned out that the engine was performing at 100% once more!
We were happy, proud and honoured to have been tasked with this.
